I took online makeup classes and here's why you should too

Makeup classes online have always felt a little too far-fetched.. Like whenever I have taken classes or given makeup classes I've always loved a hands on experience. There's so much more precision shown that words cannot express and that a physical touch can assist more with. But trying a virtual makeup class is something I'd highly recommend to an enthusiast or a pro just as long as it have video play back. If there's isn't like 24hr video replay don't bother aim for the recordings.

Technique Technique Technique

Videos are great because you can stop, fast forward, rewind, replay and watch whenever. It work's in handy especially when moving slow or you just can't catch how your instructor held the brush. You can also move everything along at your own pace according to your skillset and no competing. No one is in your way and you're not wondering how everyone else's look is coming along.

There's so many moments that are lost when you watch in-person because you're caught up in the awe of watching the live painting happening. Also, you're harping on the palette or products that you're missing that they have. It's just you over obsessing on getting your technique precise.

Live Video chat

The live video chat can be a pro or con. The great part is that it's super interactive and a way of getting to know everyone else participating. There's camaraderie and people updating you on whatever repetitive questions you may have. Then there's the part where someone asked the question that you were too busy cutting your crease to ask.

Now for the cons, your question may never be answered or seen. Due to the swarm of people in your class showing love your instructor probably never saw what was said. Which can be super annoying because you want the attention that you'd normally get in-person. Also, it's annoying with so many people wanting to write in he midst of the class (maybe that's a personal pet peeve) but altogether something to think about.

The timing of it all

I've mentioned before how great it is to slow down time or even speed it up but because it's a master class the techniques are not easy. You will need a lot more time than you're used to. Some looks if not most took four hours sometimes five so I'd say avoid practicing during the weeknight. But the looks come out absolutely stunning and the time consumption is an after though once you realize how amazing your work was. Then your photos are so dope that you wish days didn't require sleep or had more time. As you can see I was soaking in all that knowledge.

Which instructors should I choose from?

If you missed the title, I took my master makeup class at Master Makeup Academy and I'd highly recommend it. There were twenty four artists and all the videos were live and saved on a private facebook group. The instructors were wildly talented, informative, and spoke Spanish (mostly). Being that I know Spanish taking this class that's live in Ecuador virtually was a brainer but I would still recommend it to people who aren't familiar with the language. The class is pretty easy to follow and google translate can be your best asset. All you really need to know is how to follow a schedule and use facebook. Plus you get certificates based on all the advance skills you picked up.

If you're interested they're hosting another class on facebook and it's only priced at $35. I'd say give it a shot and make sure to know your whatsapp.

There's also a bunch of classes being held on Ig and those are sometimes not too bad. I know @peachesandcream hosts quite a few on Sunday and @staceymariemua does quite a few as well. There's also private zoom classes held by another favorite of mine @lordchyna and her classes are first come first served on zoom. The classes are also priced at 10 euros and they fill up quickly so I'd be sure to turn my notifications on. Everyone recommended here provides advanced looks and turns it out.

Like, comment share and please shareeeeeee all other makeup classes you've taken! I'd love to learn about some more.
